Private Equity List is a PE/VC investor database with a read-only REST API and an MCP server. Your agent can search 8,000+ investors by type, stage, industry, region and check size, read each firm’s funds and launch dates, and get the investment team to contact. One schema covers investors, funds and contacts, so there is no stitching of sources.

Most PE/VC data APIs are sold through annual enterprise contracts. The Private Equity List API is self-serve: subscribe to Pro Max, copy the key from your account settings and make the first request in a minute. MCP comes with every paid plan, so the same data works inside Claude and ChatGPT without code.

Is there an API for venture capital and private equity investor data?

Yes. Private Equity List has a read-only REST API for 8,000+ PE/VC investors, their funds and 56,000+ team contacts, plus an MCP server for AI tools. See the API reference.

How much does the Private Equity List API cost?

The REST API is included in Pro Max at $399/month, month-to-month, with unlimited MCP and CSV exports. There is no annual contract and no sales call.

What data does the API return?

Investor profiles (type, stages, industries, regions, check size, location, website, description, active status), their funds (name, size, launch date, focus) and the investment team (name, title, email, LinkedIn).

Does the API include investor contacts?

Yes. Each investor comes with its team contacts: name, title, email and LinkedIn where available.

Is there an MCP server for investor data?

Yes. The Private Equity List MCP connector lets Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP clients search the database in plain English. It is included in every paid plan, from 2,500 investors a month on Pro to unlimited on Pro Max. See MCP setup.

Which AI tools work with the MCP connector?

Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP-compatible clients and agent frameworks. Tools without MCP support can use the REST API.

What are the API rate limits?

Each key allows 2,000 requests a day on a rolling 24-hour window, and search results come in pages of up to 100. Keys expire one year after they are issued; you can generate a new one in your account.

Is there a free API tier?

No. The API needs Pro Max and MCP starts with Pro. The free Basic plan lets you browse the website: the first page of results for any search and investor profiles without contacts.

Can an AI agent sign up on its own?

Not yet. A person subscribes once and copies the API key from the account settings; after that the agent uses the key on its own.

Is Private Equity List a PitchBook API alternative?

How fresh is the data?

The database is updated daily by our research team and automation, with 1,200+ additions and edits a month on average. New funds are added as they are announced, and firms whose websites go dead are marked inactive. Monthly changes are published on database stats.

Can I use the API data in my own product?
