Samsara BioCapital was founded after years of working in the medical field and investment industry. Our goal is to help entrepreneurs turn their own ideas and visions into successful companies with fundraising and networking guidance. As a results-driven organization, we are constantly looking for ambitious and visionary partners with the drive and flexibility to take their company to the next level. We are horrified by and mourn the senseless and vicious murder of George Floyd, and many other innocent men and women of color, by the police over the years. But we are also inspired by (and join) the protesters who have been marching over the last two weeks against the systemic racism that has plagued the US. The militarization of the police and their targeting of Blacks have criminalized skin color and dehumanized a vast segment of the American population – it is well past time to end these ingrained disgusting practices. We are heartened to see the shedding of complacency by the populace, as well as some signs of policy movement regarding acceptable police actions and immunity in Washington. However, progress along many more fronts is required to eliminate the purposefully built-in societal disadvantages that treat Blacks as second class citizens and keep them repressed. Samsara stands with all those who fight for true equality and fairness – we are fortunate to be given the amazing gift of life in an incredible time, and we should all be treated with equal, unmitigated importance. Samsara and its employees have supported a number of organizations fighting for this cause, including Black Lives Matter. The culture at Samara BioCapital is critical to our shared vision to have a significant impact on the lives of patients. We recognize that we accomplish this only indirectly, but we feel incredibly fortunate and grateful to have the opportunity to be investing in a remarkably prolific time for biotech innovation, and to work with inspiring companies as they develop important and innovative new therapies. Samsara’s foundation is a culture of openness, transparency, and honesty, both internally within our team, and externally with our Limited Partners and our portfolio companies.
