What is an LP database: the investors behind PE and VC funds
Limited partner (LP): an investor that commits money to a private equity or venture fund and leaves the investing to the fund manager, the general partner (GP).
LP database: a list of those investors: what they back, where they are and who to contact.
Why fund managers use one: to build a target list before a fundraise, and to see which LPs have fresh money to commit.
What it is not: a list of fund managers. A GP raises money; an LP gives it. Many firms do both: Adams Street and Pantheon invest in other funds and raise their own from pension funds and insurers.

How emerging managers find LPs
Start with money aimed at new managers: Accolade Partners targets seed and Series A managers and emerging managers; Inception Capital runs an emerging manager fund of funds.
Look for first-fund specialists: Pritzker Alternative Strategies backs managers raising funds I–III and raised nearly $385M for its own first fund. In Prague, Aspire11 commits €10–50M through emerging managers from a €515M pension-backed fund.
Add state-backed funds of funds: the European Investment Fund and Jada invest in venture and private equity funds to grow their regions.
Then family offices: many write smaller commitments than institutions; the biggest names are in our guide to top family offices.
Know what secondaries funds do: Pantheon, Adams Street and Netley also buy existing fund stakes. That gives your current LPs liquidity; it is not the same as a new commitment.
Track who just raised: an LP with a new fund of funds has capital to commit. The new funds tracker lists each fund as it is announced.
